Google voice New SMS policy

Since I've decided I hate paying paying for phone services, I've also come to rely on some of google's features.  Just a note to anyone else in the same perdiciment, after 50 messages, its no longer free.  I'm not sure how much each text message is.  Email still free...yet.

SMS quotas in Chat - Gmail Help: "'Buying' additional messages

Keep in mind that if you'd like a higher message quota, you can always send an SMS to your own phone, and then reply to that message multiple times. Every time you send a reply message, your quota is increased by five. Effectively, you're buying more messages by paying your phone company for these outgoing messages."
